Obama’s campaign team have released some amazing videos on YouTube to raise awareness of the US election and encourage voters. A great deal of funding has gone into producing these elaborate tactics which have never been seen before using online social platforms to target individuals in a fun and playful manner. I think they have been cleverly put together and use fantastic new strategies to increase awareness using web 2.0 to generate WOM (word of mouth). This is a good example of using UGC (user generated content) for publicity purposes as usually PR is promoting a product/service however this is promoting ideology and politics – therefore no tangible item. It is used to put across beliefs and ideas to encourage voters to take pride in their country and get involved within the elections.
